Going back home!!

Yes, we're at last going back home...for good(or bad?)!! For the past 10 years, we've been toying with the idea of going back to India and settling there.Somehow we kept postponing but now at last the time is right, we think. If you asked me why we're going back I could'nt say for sure.Both of us are doing well in Calgary, we have a wonderful set of friends, kids are happy, then why risk everything?But somehow I've never felt comfortable in any of the countries that I've ever been in. Not that I faced any racisms or such things but the confort level has never been the same. I've always felt that I have to watch what I say or do or behave.I am after all an ambassador of my country..!!We've been receiving mixed responses to going back. Our families back home welcome th decision, however friends who are here in Canada, have almost violent reactions!!What foolhardiness is this...they say? Do you know the pollution in India, the traffic mess, the hot weather?and the list goes on!!! Laughable,don't you think? I mean this is where we came from, the pollution, the traffic messess etc....? It did work for us then why assume that it will not work for the kids? We tend to worry too much about the kids. I think they will adapt better than us, the adults.Also I do pity the kids who are growing up in foreign lands. They are the ones truely caught in between. We the parents want them to embrace the" culture" from where we came from but in school they are exposed to other choices and as a result have to face so much of peer pressure. The pressure that these kids suffer is a whole lot more than we ever did. I seem to be rambling.. Don't know whether we're doing the right thing or wrong...but at least we're giving it a go and we'll take it day to day!!
